Join members of the AI Steering Group and expert colleagues in this first open event exploring the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and what it means for the OU.
AI Steering Group Engagement Event 1: AI, Ethics and Law – your questions answered will take place online on Wednesday 10 July, 14:00-15:30. Please fill in the registration form to reserve your place.
John Domingue, Professor of Computer Science in KMi and host of the session, will talk about what AI is and why it’s a big deal.
David Hayes, Chief Data Officer and Chair of the AI Steering Group, will outline the Group’s work and how you can engage with this important area of activity.
This will be followed by a conversation with our expert panel, including Rebecca Ward, Data Protection Officer, Chris Wigglesworth, Chief Information Security Officer, Guy Lavender, Head of Intellectual Property, and Tracie Farrell, Research Fellow in KMi, to cover the regulatory and ethical considerations of AI, including data protection and emerging AI legislation in the UK and beyond.
The panel will aim to respond to your questions about the regulatory, security and ethical aspects of AI, within the context of what we know about AI – there is still a lot to discover and establish, so they may not have all the answers! You can submit your questions in advance through the registration form and there will be a live Q&A during the session.
This will be the first in a series of engagement events hosted by the AI Steering Groups. Future sessions will cover other aspects of AI use, including in learning, teaching and assessment.
Please register for the event today and share it with colleagues. We’re hoping to see many of you there.
